Delicate Armour

Delicate Armour is a series of unique jewellery pieces that reflect on women’s identity in the contemporary society, as well as appreciating parts of the body that are not commonly acknowledged. The Delicate Armour series comprises of 5 jewellery pieces which adorn parts of the body that are often overlooked or not suitable for adornment. Jewellery is a medium through which the human body can stand out more and throughout the years has been considered as a feminine wearable.  The woven pieces aim to create a balance between strength and fragility to convey that women can be both strong and delicate. With the unique body parts where jewellery is not commonly worn such as shoulders, elbows, palms, feet and fingers – the work emphasises that the whole human body should be appreciated and acknowledged, for jewellery itself has a connotation of being precious or beautiful. Each piece can be worn on multiple parts of the body and uses wire and yarn to achieve a mixture of softness, flexibility and a skeletal aesthetic.
